Work experience

1996 – present

Assorted freelance work.

Multidisciplinary designer and musician.

contributed to various projects as a freelance service provider and as an industrial designer, graphic designer, UX specialist.

composed music and vatio for video, animation, interactive media, computer games and theater (self employed).

 

2008 – present.

Technical manager of the Animation Department at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.

My esponsibilities include: Specifying, procuring, and maintaining a wide range of technical facilities for creative arts, including a computer lab with close to 100 PC computers and 12 stop motion animation studios.

Designing and building specialized animation equipment as needed, including lightboxes and other animation equipment.

Managing and training a team of assistants who aid students using the facilities.

Guiding students on technical aspects of film production, most notably on soundtrack production.

 

2007

Industrial designer in internship at Design-box gmbh, a studio run by Axel Hartman in Ravensburg, Germany.

I designed a variety of products including a family of musical instrument stands for Quiklok, hard-disk enclosure for C-lab, a toy electronic keyboard for Ravensburger, as well as various graphic design  and sound design work  for a number of Design-box clients.

 

2005 – 2006.

Industrial designer at the Amos Boaz Studio, Shoresh, Israel.

I participated in a wide array of design activities, including concept creation and sketching, modelling, 3D modelling and planning  (solidworks), 3D rendering (max) of a wide range of products in the automotive, medical, cosmetics, and furniture industries.

2002 – 2005.

website design and specification for various web projects, including development of  e-commerce sites for a number of Av-El clients.

Intelligence team leader at Aduva, Ramat Gan, Israel.

I built the team that specified market trends and needs for a software start-up in the Linux system administration tools market.

 Notable independent projects:

Lagomorph, an ergonomic musical instrument which allows for virtuoso artistic expression with minimal musical experience through the  combination of ergonomic design, and interchanging software modules, including relativistic note generation (Samchillian), sequencing and scale manipulation, and expression control via gesture and movement.

participated in the 2011 Georgia Tech’s Guthman new musical instrument competition.

demonstrated at the following conferences: TEDx TLV 2010, Kinnernet 2010 and 2011, DLD TLV 2012, Jerusalem Maker’s Fair 2014.

Samchillian, graduation project from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design; a proposed design for a musical instrument based on Leon Greunbaum’s relative music keyboard concept.

The project was featured in Gizmodo, Core77, Createdigitalmusic and other blogs and magazines.

 

Notable soundtracks:

2014 – Angst by Or Avrahamy:  soundtrack for a PC game.

2014 – My Home, a German-Israeli co-production animated documentary currently in production, by Daniella Koffler and Uli Seis: production and soundtrack.

2013 – Strings  by Daniella Koffler:  soundtrack for a short docu-animation film commissioned by the Beit Avihai foundation for Israel’s Remembrance Day.

The project was screened by Israel’s Channel 1 TV (IBA), and by Channel 2 (Arutz Shtayim)

2012 – God is Kidding by Boaz Belachsan and Dima Tartakiov: sound mixing.

The project won first prize at the Bitfilm Hamburg Short Film Festival, 2013, and was screened at 16 international festivals including Dok Leipzig, PISAF Animation Festival in Korea and EuroMed Festival, Belgium.

2011- Stairs to no End by Daniella Koffler: producer, soundtrack, graphic design, and website.

The film has participated in 17 international festivals, including Berlin Interfilm, Zinebi Bilbao, Filmfest Dresden and the Jerusalem International Film Festival.

The film was featured by ‘Short of the Week’  magazine and was a vimeo staff pick.

2010 – Experiment 5.5/10  by Noam Gelbart: soundtrack.

The project was featured at Stash.

2008 – The List by Daniella Koffler: soundtrack.

The film was screened at 5 international film festivals inc. Stuttgart Trickfilm, Zinebi Bilbao, and the Jerusalem International Film Festival.

2006 – Mr. City Men by Eric Lerner. soundtrack for Mr.Deja-Vu and Mr.Dreamer. Sound mixing and mastering for the entire series.

The project won the Aniboom Animation Contest that year.

1999 – The Day of the Dogs by Gili Bar Hillel and Alon Hilu. Soundtrack for a theater production, performed at the Israeli Fringe theater festival at Acco.
